Corner Kitchen was opened in June 2015 after owners Sam and Laurie Allen invested much time and resources into renovating 101 South Main St., a beautiful, historic brick building in the heart of Blackstone, Virginia. The menu offered a unique take on Southern-style cuisine, as well as classic cocktails that lended well to the delicious food.
The restaurant passed into new hands in 2019, and under the strong leadership of Gordon and Patti Lee, the Corner Kitchen continues to surpass expectations. All menu items are made fresh in-house which gives the food a great quality that can be hard to find. Paired with a comforting ambiance that offers rustic yet elegant design, you are guaranteed to enjoy a moment of excellent dining as well as hometown care and appeal.

Chef Sam Allen returned to his home town with his wife Laurie Allen to start an upscale southern cuisine restaurant called Corner Kitchen. Chef Sam left Blackstone in 2001 and started his culinary career through study at New England Culinary Institute. From New Orleans to Vermont to North Carolina, Chef Sam had the opportunity to hone his skills in these different styles while never losing the love he has for slow-cooked, deep flavors of southern foods.
Passing along his time, talent and experience, Chef Sam handed the reins of his kitchen to Chef Will, our current menu specialist. Chef Will enjoys merging fresh, locally sourced ingredients and brings his own passion and flair for fine food to his plated offerings. His tastes range from home-inspired dishes to eclectic pairings, all of which are sure to please.
